Logan's First Few Weeks

Josh was off of work for a week after Logan was born and I am very thankful that he took this time off to be with us at home. Addison and Kaitlyn happened to be out of school the first few days after Logan was born and therefore we all got to be together those first few days at home. The girls wanted to hold him all of the time and they loved showing him off to their friends. Addison was a little more hands on than Kaitlyn. I had to adjust to the girls wanting to sit right beside me or practically on top of me while nursing :)

Addison made the Rugby Middle School Cheerleading Team for basketball. We were so proud of her for trying out because she had never cheered before. But having a newborn and two pre-teens who are active has been an adjustment and not the easiest thing. Getting to Addison's basketball games and picking her up from practice at a certain time was a little difficult some days due to nursing and it taking us a little while to get on a schedule. Mimi, Poppy and Nana helped me a lot during the first few weeks. Katilyn and Josh got to go to the Daddy Daughter Dance around Valentine's Day. Addison did not go because she was too old and that made me a little sad. They almost didn't get to go because it actually snowed the day of the dance. Also during this time, Kaitlyn made the A Honor Roll at school and we got to be there for her awards ceremony.

Josh and I gave Logan his first bath and we were a little nervous but Logan loved it! He loved the water running over his head just like when he was in the hospital and the nurse gave him a bath.

This is Logan's Bassinet. Mimi and Poppy bought it for him and we love it! It swivels around and we can see him through the netting on the side. We can reach right over the sides if we need to put in his Pacifier.

We discovered that Logan had a Lip tie and Tongue Tie and that was this was causing Logan not gain weight fast enough. It took Logan 3 weeks to get to his birth weight. Because his lip was so tight, he wasn't able to maneuver the nipple efficiently and would burn a lot of calories just trying to get milk. It was very painful nursing Logan before he had this procedure done. I am the one who discovered it and called a Pediatric Dentist in Asheville. We had a friend whose son had the same thing. The procedure only took a few minutes. Mimi went with me to get it done. We had to do exercises five times a day to stretch it afterwards so that it didn't grow back. The procedure for sure helped with pain while nursing Logan.
